During the summer holidays of 1976, I spent most of my time with Tracy visiting every charity shop you could reach on a Red Bus Rover.  We rumbled around jumble sales hunting for forties clothes and shoes.  Tracy'a mum worked in a fabric shop and brought home exotic fabrics : suedette, rubber, plastic,  and industrial nylons in Day-Glo colors.  We couldn't afford the clothes that were sold on the Kings Road.  in Acme Attractopms, and Sex, or the Oxfam.  Instead of us donating to their charity, they donated to ours.  We would go into the chaning rooms and put the clothes on under our own.
